What is Profhilo Structura?
Profhilo Structura is a new and innovative injectable treatment that helps rejuvenate your face by restoring lost fat tissue. Created by the makers of the popular Profhilo range, this treatment uses a special form of hyaluronic acid to provide lift and improve facial contours. It specifically targets areas of the face that have lost volume due to ageing, helping you achieve a more youthful and refreshed look.
How does Profhilo Structura work?
Profhilo Structura works by using a combination of high and low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, produced through a unique thermal process called NAHYCO® Technology. When injected just under the skin, it regenerates superficial facial fat, restoring volume and firmness. This process provides a lifting effect, making your face look more subtly structured and youthful. Because the results are very natural looking, and the treatment carries less risks than traditional dermal fillers, the treatment is popular with patients who have some mild sagging or volume loss but are wary of dermal fillers. By a process called bio-remodelling, Profhilo Structura also stimulates collagen production in the overlying skin, leading to an improvement in skin quality too with greater skin hydration and plumpness, and a reduction in fine lines.

Am I suitable for treatment?
Treatment is not recommended if:

You are suffering from any skin infection in or near the treatment area or are unwell in any way (even a cold).

You are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin.

You are currently or have recently completed a course of Roacutane (acne treatment) in the last 18 months
-
You are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Considerations when choosing your appointment for treatment
You will need 2 Profhilo Structura treatments spaced around a month apart and a single maintenance treatment every 6 months. There is always a risk of bruising, so please ensure that you do not have any important special events such as holidays, weddings and parties in the week or so after your treatment. Bruising can last up to 2 weeks. Profhilo Structura can also be used in combination with Profhilo.

Please avoid any dental treatments, facials, massage and other treatments for at least 2 weeks after treatment.
Preparation before Profhilo Structura Treatment
Please avoid alcohol, aspirin, omega fish oil, vitamins C and E, Gingko Biloba and St John’s Wort for at least 24 hours before and for a few days after your appointment, as they can all increase the risk of bleeding and bruising. Purchase arnica tablets and cream which may help to reduce any bruising.
Please come as ‘fresh faced’ as possible with no make-up.
Aftercare advice following Profhilo Structura Treatment
No recovery time is required and you can return to your normal daily activities immediately. You may have some tenderness, redness and pin prick marks but this will settle over the few days. The product is injected in small linear ‘deposits’ which will be visible immediately after treatment, but they usually settle within 24 to 48 hours. It may be possible to feel the product where it has been injected under the skin, but it will settle on its own as the Profhilo Structura flows under the skin and there is no need to massage.

Immediately after treatment there may be tenderness, sensation of heat, itching, burning redness, bruising and swelling in the treatment area. These are temporary and generally disappear within a few days. If they continue or if other reactions occur, please contact the clinic by email.

Keep the skin clean: avoid touching the treatment area for at least 6 hours after the treatment or for the rest of the day of treatment. After that the area can be gently washed with a gentle cleanser.

Make up should not be worn for at least 12 hours.

You are advised to avoid aspirin, alcohol, strenuous exercise and swimming for 48 hours

Avoid extreme temperatures (hot or cold) for at least 7 days after treatment. (no saunas, steam rooms, sunbeds or sun exposure).

Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen daily.

Any bruising may take a few days to appear and arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising.
Does Profhilo Structura Treatment hurt?
Anaesthetic cannot be used and is not necessary for this treatment. The injections are carried out using a cannula and are a little uncomfortable. After the treatment, you may experience some tenderness for the first 24- 72 hours.
