What is RF Microneedling?
Radiofrequency Microneedling is an advanced treatment combining both medical microneedling and radiofrequency to rejuvenate the skin by stimulating the body’s natural healing process to encourage collagen production of the dermis resulting in anti-ageing and skin tightening.
How does it work?
The radio-frequency energy is delivered through gold plated insulated needles allowing precise delivery to the dermis, heating the collagen fibres to 55°C-65°C. This causes contraction and trauma to the tissue and stimulates fibroblasts to produce more collagen and elastin which strengthens and tightens the skin.
Used to Treat
-
Loose and Sagging Skin
-
Fine lines and wrinkles
-
Sun damage and pigmentation/uneven skin tone
-
Pitted skin/poor skin texture/open pores
-
Scarring
-
Stretch marks
-
Dull, tired skin
Does it Hurt?
This is not a painful treatment, although there may be some discomfort and your skin may feel warm and experience a slight prickly buzzing sensation from the needles. To ensure your comfort, a topical anaesthetic cream to numb the skin will be applied prior to treatment.
Is it Safe?
Since this treatment relies upon natural processes and causes only micro fine, controlled injury to the skin, it is considered very safe, when the appropriate device is used in trained hands.
How Long will Results Last?
The optimum result is achieved over a course of treatments and over a period of months. Depending on the treatment indications a course of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart is usually recommended. Most patients report a noticeable improvement after the first two weeks and report skin feels smoother, softer and looks fresher, but the real changes occur from about 12 weeks. Skin quality continues to improve for up to 9 months and a top up treatment is recommended every 6 to 12 months.
Before Treatment
ll make up will need to be removed prior to treatment, so please come ‘fresh faced’ if possible. Treatment cannot be administered if there is an active skin infection, including acne or cold sores or if you are unwell- including colds, coughs, sore throats etc. Do contact the clinic to discuss any illness or new medicines prior to attending.

It is recommended that self-tannng products are not used on the treatment area in the weeks before treatment (and for 2 to 3 weeks after treatment) as the possible flaking of the skin following treatment may lead to patchiness of the self-tan.
One week prior to the treatment:
-
start to apply antiviral cream if you are prone to cold sores.
3 days before treatment:
-
stop using ‘active’ skincare (ie. AHA, BHA, Retinol).
-
Avoid direct sun exposure and the use of aftershaves or perfumes on the treatment area.
-
Excessive facial hair, beards and moustaches need to be clean shaven prior to treatment.
24 hours before your treatment:
-
Alcohol, aspirin, Ibuprofen and a range of dietary supplements including; St. Johns Wort, fish oils, Gingko Biloba, Vitamins C and E- may all contribute to bruising and are best avoided 24 hours before treatment.
Expected Skin Recovery Post Treatment
For up to 24 hours: you may experience skin redness, some bruising and mild swelling.
Day 2-3: reduced redness and minor skin dryness and flaking
Day 3-4: possible skin dryness
Day 4-5: your skin should be fully recovered

Over the next 4-6 weeks you will see a visible improvement in collagen health with smoother, firmer and tighter skin.
