Pre-holiday aesthetics treatments: What to book and when
Preparing for a holiday often involves planning outfits, travel essentials and skincare, but it is also a great time to consider aesthetic treatments that help you look and feel your best with minimal effort so you can relax whilst you are away. To achieve natural and glowing results it is important to consider not just which treatments you book, but when you book them, and a well-timed treatment plan will help skin to look and feel radiant and refreshed before you go away.
In this blog, award-winning Aesthetic Doctor and skin health specialist, Dr Christine Or advises on the most effective pre-holiday aesthetic treatments to have and the ideal timeline before your holiday.
6-8 weeks before your holiday: planning and subtle enhancements
During the 6-8 weeks before the start of your holiday is the perfect time to have your consultation and treatments that may require a little more time to settle. When advising my clients on any treatments, my goal is to create natural and balanced results, treating the face "as a whole" so any enhancements work in harmony with your facial features.
My recommended treatments at this stage before your holiday are:
Anti-wrinkle injections which work to block chemical messages from the nerve to the muscle so that the muscle stays in its resting state for a period of 8 to 12 weeks on average. Having this treatment at least 8 weeks before you go away allows for optimal settling and a review if needed.
Dermal fillers to provide instant correction, creating volume and contour to the face, defining, correcting and enhancing the lips, and improving the tone texture and hydration of the skin. By having this treatment 6-8 weeks before your holiday will allow time for refinement and natural integration.
Profhilo and other skin boosters to deeply hydrate the skin and stimulate collagen production in the skin leading to further improvement in skin quality, elasticity and firmness. This is an ideal time to start collagen-stimulating treatments as a couple of treatments are usually needed spaced 4 weeks apart and results are gradual over the weeks following treatment.
This early window allows for any subtle adjustments and a chance for results to settle so you feel beautifully refined and confident ahead of your holiday.
3-4 weeks before your holiday: skin rejuvenation
As your holiday approaches, the focus of your aesthetic treatments should move towards improving overall skin quality to enhance radiance, smoothness and hydration. I strongly believe in rejuvenating the skin, not just treating lines and wrinkles, to support long-term health.
The ideal treatments to have during this period are:
Chemical peels effectively exfoliate the uppermost damaged skin layers, leaving your skin refreshed, renewed and radiant with little to no downtime. Improvement will be seen after just one treatment giving you smoother, tighter, and brighter-looking skin ahead of your holiday.
Radiofrequency Microneedling is an advanced treatment that stimulates the body’s natural healing process to encourage collagen production of the dermis resulting in anti-ageing and skin tightening. Most patients report a noticeable improvement after the first two weeks post-treatment and report that skin feels smoother, softer and looks fresher with an improvement in texture and quality.
These treatments will give your skin time to heal and reveal a fresh and luminous complexion before your trip.
1-2 weeks before your holiday: at-home skincare focus
During the last couple of weeks before your holiday, consistency is key. Rather than introducing new in-clinic treatments, this is the perfect time to optimise your at-home skincare routine to maintain your treatment results and enhance your skin health.
I would advise focusing on the below during this timeframe:
Daily SPF use: apply a broad-spectrum SPF every morning to protect your skin and preserve the results of your treatments.
Skin hydration and barrier support: use a high-quality moisturiser and hydrating serum so skin looks and feels plump and healthy.
Antioxidant protection: incorporate a Vitamin C serum into your morning skincare routine for brightening and defence against environmental damage.
Gentle exfoliation: use a mild exfoliator 1-2 times per week to maintain smooth and radiant skin, and avoid anything that is too harsh close to your travel date.
Avoid introducing new active products: stick to your usual skincare routine to minimise the risk of irritation or unexpected reactions before your holiday.
This stage should focus on maintaining balance and supporting your skin barrier.

Pre-holiday aesthetic treatments should be about refining your natural features and improving skin health so you can enjoy radiant skin and a boost in confidence during your break away. If you are planning a holiday for the summer months, now is an ideal time to start your journey.
