How to know if you're a suitable candidate for Sunekos

As we age, we may notice fine lines, crepey skin and a loss of firmness around the eyes, face, neck or décolletage. Sunekos is an injectable treatment that is becoming increasingly popular because it offers a natural approach to skin rejuvenation without adding volume or dramatically altering facial features.

In this blog, award-winning Aesthetic Doctor and skin health specialist, Dr Christine Or will help you determine if you're a suitable candidate for Sunekos before having the treatment.

What is Sunekos?

Sunekos is an injectable skin rejuvenation treatment that combines hyaluronic acid with a patented blend of amino acids. Together, these ingredients stimulate the production of collagen and elastin which are two essential proteins responsible for maintaining youthful and healthy-looking skin.

Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Sunekos is not designed to create volume or reshape the face. Instead, it works by improving skin quality from within, helping the skin appear smoother, firmer, and more hydrated over time. It is commonly used to treat:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Thin or crepey skin

  • Tired-looking eyes

  • Loss of skin elasticity

  • Dehydrated skin

  • Early signs of ageing

  • Acne scarring in some cases

Popular treatment areas include the under-eye area, cheeks, forehead, neck, hands, and décolletage.

Who is a suitable candidate for Sunekos?

Sunekos is suitable for patients whose concerns include skin that looks dull, dry and lacklustre, and if you have fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the lower cheek area. Sunkeos provides deep hydration, improved elasticity, and smoothing of superficial wrinkles. You may be a suitable candidate for Sunekos if:

  • You are looking for a natural rejuvenation: Sunekos is ideal for patients who want subtle, refreshed results rather than dramatic changes. If you are looking to improve skin texture, hydration, and overall skin quality whilst maintaining natural facial movement and expression, Sunekos may be an excellent option.

  • You have fine lines or early signs of ageing: This treatment works particularly well for mild to moderate signs of ageing. If you are noticing fine lines and crepey skin under the eyes, mild skin laxity or dull and tired skin, then Sunekos can help stimulate natural skin regeneration before more advanced ageing changes occur.

  • You prefer a non-surgical treatment: if you are seeking skin rejuvenation without surgery or significant downtime, Sunekos can be a very appealing option for patients. Treatment sessions are relatively quick, and most patients can return to normal daily activities shortly afterwards. It is important to note that mild swelling, redness, or bruising may occur temporarily, but downtime is generally minimal.

  • You want to improve skin quality rather than add volume: Sunekos is not to be confused with dermal filler as the goals are very different. If your primary concern is poor skin texture, dehydration, or loss of elasticity rather than volume loss, Sunekos may be more appropriate. Patients who want healthier, firmer skin without changing their facial contours are often excellent candidates for this treatment.

  • You are short on time: A Sunekos treatment only takes 30 minutes. Numbing cream will be applied for around 20 minutes or you may be provided with numbing cream to apply 30 minutes before your appointment.

Who may not be a suitable candidate for Sunekos?

Sunekos is a safe, effective and non-invasive treatment for many patients, however you may not be a suitable candidate if you:

  • You are suffering from any skin infection in or near the treatment area or are unwell in any way (even a cold).

  • You are taking any medicines which affect bleeding, such as aspirin or warfarin.

  • You are currently or have recently completed a course of Roacutane (acne treatment) in the last 18 months

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Dr Christine advises a thorough consultation with an Aesthetic doctor or skin specialist to determine the suitability of Sunekos for your skin concerns.

What results can you expect?

The results from Sunekos develop gradually over time as collagen and elastin production increases. Many of my patients notice improvements in skin hydration and smoothness, brightness, elasticity and fine lines.

I recommend 2 to 3 separate treatments spaced 2 to 3 weeks apart for best results, lasting approximately 6 to 12 months. The treatment stimulates your skin naturally, so the outcome is typically soft, healthy, and refreshed rather than obvious or overfilled.
